At what age can my child start swimming lessons?

Children can join our beginner swimming lessons from the age of 3.

It is important that they already have some basic water experience and can stay with the instructor without parents during the lesson.

My child is older (7–18 years) and cannot swim yet. Is that possible?

Yes!

We offer beginner swimming lessons for older children and teenagers in Düsseldorf, Neuss, Grevenbroich and Bedburg.

It is never too late to learn how to swim safely and correctly.

How can I prepare my child for swimming lessons?

Diving and water confidence are important parts of learning how to swim.

You can prepare your child at home by:

  • playing in the bath or pool
  • blowing bubbles in the water
  • slowly getting used to water on the face

Please do not force anything — every child learns at their own pace.

What does my child need for swimming lessons?

Please bring:

  • swimsuit or tight swim shorts
  • towel
  • optional bathrobe

All children receive a small welcome gift including a KSS swim cap and a special swim outfit.

Neoprene suits are usually not necessary, but can be helpful for children who are sensitive to cold water.

How do the swimming lessons work?

Our kids swimming lessons in Düsseldorf, Neuss, Grevenbroich and Bedburg take place in rented school and indoor swimming pools.

Separate changing rooms are available.

Procedure:

  • parents help children get changed
  • no street shoes in wet areas
  • the first lesson is for getting familiar
  • parents may stay briefly during the first lesson
  • afterwards parents wait outside the pool area

Please allow enough time for changing.

Can parents watch the lessons?

No — our swimming lessons take place without parents.

This helps children:

  • stay more focused
  • avoid distractions
  • develop more independence in the water

How can I support my child while learning to swim?

Regular visits to the swimming pool help children strengthen what they learned during the course and improve water confidence.

Please make sure that private practice supports the lesson content and does not unintentionally contradict the teaching methods.

How long does it take until a child can swim?

This depends on several factors:

  • previous water experience
  • motivation
  • regular attendance
  • individual learning development

For over 14 years we have been teaching children how to swim safely and know that every child learns differently.

Our focus is not only on swim badges, but on real water safety, confidence and long-term swimming development.

How quickly will my child receive swim badges such as Seepferdchen or Bronze?

Our goal is high-quality and sustainable swimming education.

Focusing too quickly on swim badges often leads to poor technique and limited water safety.

Our swimming concept focuses strongly on:

  • water safety
  • diving
  • back floating and backstroke
  • controlled movement in the water
  • long-term swimming development

Quality before speed.
